Step 1: Merit List Based on Class 10 Marks

India Post will prepare a computer-generated merit list based only on the marks you scored in your Class 10 (Matriculation) exam. Your marks are calculated up to 4 decimal places to ensure fairness. The higher your Class 10 percentage, the better your chance of being selected.

Step 2: Tie-Breaking Rules

If two candidates have the exact same Class 10 marks, India Post uses the following priority order to break the tie:

• Older candidate gets preference (by date of birth)
• If still tied: ST Female → SC Female → OBC Female → EWS Female → UR Female
• Then: ST Male → SC Male → OBC Male → EWS Male → UR Male

Step 3: Document Verification (DV)

Candidates whose names appear in the merit list are called for Document Verification at their selected Divisional Head office. You must bring original copies of all documents mentioned in your application.

Step 4: Final Engagement Letter

After successful document verification, you will receive a system-generated provisional engagement letter. You must complete all pre-engagement formalities within 30 days of receiving this letter. Once all checks are clear, the final appointment order is issued — and you officially become a Gramin Dak Sevak!
